Multiscale Ecologies of Memory stems from the convergence of two ongoing research initiatives: mSPACE – Multiscale Stochastics, Patterns and Analysis of Combinatorial Environments, a COST Action dedicated to the mathematical study of multiscale systems, and Mimosa Pudica, an artistic research project exploring the relationship between plant memory and digital ecologies.
The symposium creates a space for dialogue between mathematics, plant biology, ecology, philosophy, architecture, statistics and artistic research, bringing together researchers from Italian and European universities and institutions.
Through presentations, conversations and sessions of discussion and collective observation, the symposium examines how phenomena such as memory, adaptation, learning and resilience emerge at different scales: from the biological processes of plants to complex systems, from landscape transformations to digital and computational ecologies.
The aim is to build common ground where methods, vocabularies and forms of knowledge can engage in mutual dialogue.
The event marks the first public collaboration between the COST Action mSPACE and the Mimosa Pudica artistic research project, with the aim of exploring forms of interdisciplinary collaboration between mathematics, ecology and artistic research.
